We love our Frank & Barb duo! These two are an absolute joy to train, be around, and be a part of their incredible transformation. They joined us mid-October of last year and our boot camp family has never been the same since. They have inspired not only our members and are always high-fiving (while jumping in the air) everyone after a good set.. but have also inspired both myself and the other trainers. In fact – they also wanted to say a few words.
From our trainer, Deb: “Frank & Barb, I am so happy you two gave boot camp a try and better yet I’m so happy that you both joined. Both of you have done an amazing job and your transformations have been awesome to watch and be a part of. I love the dedication and determination you bring to every workout; you are an inspiration to so many. The Bay View Boot Camp Family wouldn’t be the same without you two. I love you guys!”
From our trainer, Gail: “It has been so awesome watching Frank and Barb’s transformation. From Day 1 they gave it their all and were determined to improve.. and they have by leaps and bounds. They are such a joy to workout out with, train, and just be around.”
Here’s Frank & Barb’s story.. in their own words:
By the summer of 2013, I couldn’t bend over to tie my shoelaces without losing my breath! Barb needed me to get down on the floor to buckle the straps of her shoes.
We were starting to look like the Michelin’s (Mr. and Mrs. Michelin Man…) We also were looking at our daughter’s wedding coming up in less than 6 months and we both wanted to look much better than we did.
I had been doing WeightWatchers for Men (online) and that worked a little, but there was no real penalty if you cheated and ate or drank too much. You just didn’t make your number that week and they gave you another, slightly higher one for the next week.
Barb would complain that she was trying to eat better but every time she stepped on our Homer Simpson scale, he would groan “…dooo-nuts…!” It’s funny for a while, then I disconnected the volume!
Oh, we would walk up 62nd Avenue and back, and, you know, working out on our own at the gym wasn’t doing it either.
We needed some motivation and discipline.
Deb (Zechinni) and I were playing softball when she convinced us to give Bay View Boot Camp a try. Hell, the first week was free and if you didn’t like it, you could just not sign up. So we showed up one evening in October. Man, that first Monday was hard. We came back on Wednesday, both stiff as if rigor mortis had set in, and again on Saturday morning. It was as hard as I had worked out since high school! I was afraid for Barb cuz those excersizes were killing her!
Somehow, eventually and by sticking with it, we both started to feel the change… our weight started to drop, we started to feel better, and sore but it was a good sore.
Laura was very patient with us (clearly we were the oldest kids in camp), and the group was really cheerleading us to succeed. I think by Christmas they were telling us of how much of a difference they all saw in both of us, especially Barb. Laura, Deb, Molly, Mackenzie and Gail, too, give you plenty of encouragement to make you want to finish each exercise, like somehow you’re doing it for them!
A lot of our clothes look baggy on us now. Needless to say we looked, and felt, pretty good about ourselves for the wedding. Just because the wedding is over, we don’t plan to stop now, either.”
Congratulations Frank and Barb!! You are always cheering everyone else during the workouts – so we are excited that today is all about the two of you. You look incredible and your energy levels keep getting higher and higher (if that’s possible). Keep up the amazing work!!
Please leave a note for Frank & Barb below and let them know how they’ve inspired you. :)
